Workweek Armor: 7 Things That Make Corporate Suck Less
Share
Surviving the workweek requires more than coffee and pretending to be on mute. Whether you're dodging meetings or contemplating your next career move mid-Town Hall, you need the right gear.
Here's your corporate survival kit.
1. The “I’m Fine” Notebook
A blank space for all your brilliant ideas, passive-aggressive to-do lists, or doodles of your coworkers as medieval villains. It doesn’t judge, and it doesn’t ping you 16 times a day.
2. Noise-Canceling Headphones (or an Office Door That Locks)
When the open floor plan turns into open season, silence is sacred. Noise-canceling headphones + brown noise = bliss. Bonus if they signal “Do Not Approach Unless You Have Snacks.” I've been listing to LoFi Girl on repeat.
3. The Wine Tumbler That Says What Your Face Can’t
Your face is doing a lot these days. Let your drinkware help. Our Take It Offline tumblers scream “I’d rather be literally anywhere else” — but in a classy, insulated way.
4. Pre-written Email Replies
Arm yourself with a few solid “Nope” templates:
- “Circling back!” = I sent this already, and I know you ignored it.
- “Flagging for visibility” = I’m done. It’s your turn.
- “Not sure I’m the best fit for this” = Please, please, not this.
Pro tip: save these in your Notes app to have at the ready.
5. One Beautiful, Defiant Walk at 2:17 PM
Middle of the workday? That’s a great time to “go think about the project” outside. Bonus points for a dramatic podcast, a well-earned latte, or just… silence. This is your calendar-blocked revenge break. Touch grass.
6. Your Work Bestie
Whether it’s your actual ride-or-die or a Slack DM from a kindred spirit who sends memes instead of agendas, never underestimate the power of solidarity. Corporate friendship is a love language.
7. A Spicy Exit Plan
You don’t have to leave (yet), but you do get to fantasize. Dreaming up your “leave with a bang” moment is self-care. Write it down. Color-code it. Title the page: Operation GTFO.
Corporate might still be chaos. But we got bills, so off to work we go. Hope these few things help the week go by just a little quicker.
Happy Weekend,
Kerry
